How Macrolane® works

Macrolane® is a gel like substance that is made of Hyaluronic Acid. It can be used to fill areas in the body - such as the breasts, buttocks, calves or scars.

There are two different consistencies - the choice of which one to be used will be made by your surgeon.

Macrolane® can be injected through a very narrow tube called a cannula. This means that the whole procedure can be done under local anaesthetic as a "walk in - walk out" procedure.

It also means that the whole Macrolane® breast enlargement procedure can be done through on very small incision on each side - about 2 - 3 mm long.

Macrolane® is not placed into the breast itself. This would only increase the weight of the breast and make it droop more.

Instead, Macrolane® is carefully injected into the space under the breast tissue, between the breast itself and the underlying pectoral muscle.

Although Macrolane® is useful for many women's breasts, there are some that cannot be pushed forwards by this technique.

This is why it is essential to have a consultation to be assessed before deciding upon Macrolane®.
